The Bruce Silverstein Gallery generously donates a selection of 10 gelatin silver prints
by American mid-20th century photographer Frank Paulin in 2009.
in the arts began at the age of 16 when he joined the Chicago-based
Whitaker-Christiansen Studio as an apprentice. He joined the Army in 1944, and
as a member of the Signal Corps, he began photographing the wartime devastation
in German cities. For the next fifty years, Paulin continued to photograph what
he called "poetic accidents," expanding his territory from New Orleans to Paris
